Very important

Good thing that i think all artists should think about a lot (Read the article now)

normalise sharing scrappy fiddles

a lot of what i post around here tends to fall under this type of category . i think more people should embrace it. the ideal way to go about making art is to make stuff that emotionally captivates You, and to me, the end goal is hopefully to inspire other people to do the same. i post random doodles of funny little creatures and characters that i draw a hundred times over because i personally enjoy it. are the doodles super well polished? Nope . do i draw the same characters over and over? Yeap . but a real artist shouldn’t have to give a shit about that

back when i first got into art, i used to be inspired by countless doodle pages of people’s OCs that i found cool. those gave me not only a massive dopamine hit, but also the inspiration, and the motivation to start out; i was especially intimidated by art as a total beginner in 2018 because i thought art Had to be complex, that you Had to please others, and that not doing so would mean that you’re a Disgrace to the field or that you’re “not a real artist”. did some of that doubt come from unrelated issues? yeah, but some of it also came from the predisposed notion that creativity needed to have rigid boundaries, and that those who didn’t do well enough should just fuck off, when it should never be about that. i think we need to work together to normalize sharing whatever the hell it is we draw, no matter how messy it might be. i’ve seen some messy doodles that have genuinely captivated me, and made me happy. and if that applies to me, surely it can apply to at least one of the other 8 billion people on this planet

Shoutout to infinitysnapz for showing this article to me amid a terrible art block of mine lol
